Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Today is the day to reflect and take stock in what it is that makes our particular lives so great. For many of us, the most important thing in our lives is family. Here at Mega Dads we put a big focus on family. Specifically what it means to be a father and to have a family of our own. But family can be many things to many different people. This week I want to talk about that.
For me personally, I’ve thought a lot over the last few years about what family means. Mine has changed in many ways over the last few years. There have been additions and subtractions. Family is an ever fluctuating thing. Being a family is more than just being bound by your genes. It’s about having a connection with someone that makes the both of you better. We make those connections and redefine them every day of our lives. Your family can be your significant others, friends, co-workers, teachers, or even your pets. It’s all about what you bring out of each other.
To be perfectly honest, I feel more connected to my cat than 75% of my blood relatives.
But I am lucky enough to have a really great core family. I have a wife and son who I wish I could spend every second of every day with. My mom is the youngest person I know and makes me laugh at her lunacy. My sister-in-law and my nieces are an entertaining circus that never fails to entertain. And my brother is the best friend a 34 year old nitwit could have.
Today we’re going to spend the day eating, drinking, laughing and farting around all day. Because being together is the greatest thing we can give each other. Family wants to be together. They need to be together. Whether it’s sitting around a table with your siblings, playing football with your friends, or watching a movie with your wife. When we connect with each other we become family.
So today my wish for all of you is that you build those connections. Grow your families. Find those people that make your life better and give thanks for having them in your life.
Happy Thanksgiving! From The Mega Dads!
