fh1The Forza series of racing games has been around for more than a decade and started on the original Xbox, but up until recently the series has always played second fiddle to the more popular and critically acclaimed Gran Turismo games. But with recent titles in that series suffering from both long development times and a drop in quality, the Forza series of games has quickly claimed the crown as the racing series to beat.

Part of their success can be attributed to the smart decision to alternate between the hardcore simulation Forza Motorsport series and the more arcade like experience of the Forza Horizon games. The later games focus on the fictional Horizon Festival which travels the world and lures racers from around the globe to compete in a variety of different races. While the first 2 games set the festival in Colorado and the Mediterranean region of Europe respectively, this time around the festival heads to Australia for perhaps its most diverse setting yet.

Featuring over 350 cars to choose from, Forza Horizon 3 also gives you direct control over the festival with the option to hire and fire your friends to win you more fans. It also includes new features such as Drift Zones, Convoys, Danger Sign Jumps and the all new 4 player Online Co-op Mode. The Horizon games have always been a favorite of mine with its perfect combination of sim racing and crazy stunts and this game looks to feature the kind of open world mayhem that the series is known for, promising to deliver the best racing of the year.
