3 PSVR2 Games I Want from State of Play
The PlayStation State of Play is scheduled for this afternoon and in addition to a focus on third party partners, this event promises to be the first major software reveal for the upcoming successor to PlayStation VR. PSVR is currently expected to release in the early part of next year with a promised 20 launch titles ready to roll out at launch. That’s a lot of new games and a lot of investment into the VR space for PlayStation.
I am very excited to see what the lineup for PSVR 2 is and today is the day we will get our first look at that catalog. So what are the games am I hoping Sony will show off today?
GRAN TURISMO 7 - VR
Gran Turismo 7 is one of my favorite games of the year so far and it a technical marvel to behold. With the best use of the Dualsense controller I have experienced yet on the PS5, I can only imagine what the extra level of immersion would be like to use the new sense controllers as if you are actually gripping the steering wheel in your tricked out sports car. Add on top of that a truly impressive first person viewpoint that they already have in-game converted to a VR viewpoint and a Gran Turismo 7 VR update would be a slam dunk to launch PSVR 2 with.
ASTRO BOT: RESCUE MISSION 2
Astro Bot Rescue Mission continues to stand tall as the best VR game I have ever played and Sony has now shown that they trust the little guy to launch and showcase new hardware with both PSVR and PS5 letting everyone’s favorite robo-buddy show just what these machines can do in impressive fashion. It makes all the sense in the word to let the geniuses at Team ASOBI show why Astro is the best 3D platformer in the business with a follow-up to one of the grandest adventures I’ve ever slapped onto my eyeballs.
BLOOD AND TRUTH 2
Running and gunning through the London underworld was a thrilling action experience with Blood and Truth from PlayStation’s London Studio. The feeling of being in a hard boiled action crime movie really made the game a compelling experience and one of the best games on PSVR. London Studio not too long ago patched the game for PS5 to allow players on the platform to enjoy a higher fidelity experience to what was already a great looking game.
With a fantastic storyline of betrayal and revenge with a compelling cast of characters that left the door open for a follow-up, I feel like just enough time has passed since the 2019 release to make my trigger finger itchy for some more Blood and Truth.
Those are my picks for what VR games I’m hoping to see tonight during the PlayStation State of Play. Make sure you let me know in the comments what you’re hoping to see and I’ll be back soon to break down my thoughts on today’s event!
